Cut scene to The Diabolique. The same night. The Diabolique is an upscale bar, club and restaurant. The restaurant is expensive and tables are sought-after, but it is open to the public. The bar and club area are members only, and regularly have live music and a weekly burlesque night. The Diabolique is popular with members of Excolo's underworld - if they can afford the membership rates, as well as Excolo's high society (often the two groups overlap). Management grants membership to those who are rich, well-dressed - and who don't cause trouble on the premises (what you do outside is your own business...). So it's a relatively safe haven for the well-heeled criminal.
I am sitting at the Diabolique's bar before dinner. My wife may or may not turn up - she was in something of a snit with me this morning. I know I had her cousin kneecapped, but really, does she have to take it so personally? I've explained a hundred times that I have to apply the same standards across my workforce. Ah, well. She will forgive me eventually. Or do something to cause me some irritation in return, and then we'll be even, for the time being at least.
I swirl the olive around my martini. It is quiet here tonight, although I believe Wanda is singing later, which will probably draw in the patrons. She is quite popular here. Management have always had an eye for talent.
I suppose the police are busy scurrying around since they found Reaves' body. I smirk. I do so enjoy seeing them tangle themselves up in knots...
